5WTI helps VideoDock build their partnership ecosystem

“If you want a thing done well, do it yourself.” Last week we set out to prove Napoleon Bonaparte's famous quote wrong.

Videodock is a video streaming platform based in the Netherlands that has helps organisations serve video content to their audience across a multitude of channels. They have worked with brands as diverse as the Sydney Opera House serve symphony content to less digitally literate older audiences and the Netherlands Government who wanted to livestream their national debates to citizens wherever they are in the world.

In October 2023, they flew their leadership team from Amsterdam to Asia to host a two-week offsite to build out their global expansion strategy. Critical to the plan is building a partner ecosystem with established streaming providers to get their content to people wherever they are and whichever devices they are using. They invited 5 Ways to Innovate to be part of the offsite and facilitate these planning conversations.

One of the biggest insights was that even when you have one of the most talented teams in the world, attempting to keep innovating at the exponential pace of the tech landscape is just no longer possible in isolation. Economies of scale are actually often a barrier to speed in these cases - for most companies, the bigger you get, the slower you innovate. The much faster way to get to your end goals is to look across your future capability map and identify the right partners who can plug in to accelerate your path to success.

The offsite has resulted in the leadership team walking away with an actionable roadmap of initiatives in order to build out this ecosystem and fuel their next era of growth to a global audience.
